THE CHALLENGE

Onward Energy is seeking an experienced and motivated financial professional to help lead the execution of the company’s capital markets activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the VP, Capital Markets on the origination, negotiation, execution, and maintenance of Onward’s financings. In addition, the Senior Manager, will work closely with Onward’s M&A team to execute new financings associated with M&A activity.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the day-to-day execution of all aspects of project and corporate finance activities.
• Assist with the maintenance of key relationships with banks, insurance companies, tax equity investors, independent engineers and rating agencies.
• Manage the lender diligence process including (1) the creation of information memorandum, (2) the preparation of financial models, (3) the management of Q&A and data sites, and (4) the coordination of lender advisors and preparation of relevant reports (e.g., IE, insurance, and market reports).
• Work with internal and external counsels. Review debt financing and other legal agreements as applicable.
• Manage and help with the development of financial staff.
• Help VP develop and execute optimal corporate finance structures and strategies for Onward.
• Develop strong working relationship with Onward’s M&A, Asset Management, Commercial, Legal and Operations Teams.
• Understand applicable incentives and structures that drive financial value
• Other duties as assigned.

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

• Six or more years of experience in project financing, back-leverage, corporate financing, tax equity, investment banking, consulting and/or IPPs (with a focus on the power sector including renewable and thermal assets).
• Strong understanding of commercial and legal aspects of project and corporate financings as well as tax equity structures.
• Excellent financial modeling skills and analytical capabilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to integrity in all dealings.
• Demonstrated track record of managing stakeholders, attorneys, consultants, and other professionals in successfully closing large utility scale financings.
• Experience using influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes.
• Keen multi-tasking capabilities, flexibility, and organizational skills; attention to detail is critical to success.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex and technical points effectively.
• Strong, creative problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Proficient with MS Office suite applications.

THE TEAM

The Onward Energy team is collaborative, dedicated, hard-working, and down to earth. The management team is comprised of seasoned industry professionals supported by experienced project operators and advisors.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onward Energy is currently implementing a hybrid office environment, with team members in the office at least two days per week. The position functions in a smoke and vape free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, and scanner/photocopier.
